FlyData Supported Platforms and OSs

The past week, we received a few questions regarding what platforms and OSs we support. Since it’s a common question, we’d like to share what we support currently, and some recommended setups for getting the fullest value out of FlyData.

# FlyData Supported Platforms (OSs)

In a nutshell, the following are what we support with FlyData as of the time of writing this article (April 9, 2015):

  • Supported OSs:
    • Ubuntu/Debian 12.04+
    • CentOS/Redhat 5+
  • Data source:
    • MySQL 5.1+,
    • RDS MySQL 5.6 *,
    • MariaDB 12+
  • EC2 size:
    • Minimum size: m1.small.
    • Recommended: c3.large

* A 5.6 ver Read Replica works as well. A common question we get is “What if I have a MySQL version 5.5 (or lower)?”. Many times this isn’t too much of an issue, as long as you can set up a 5.6 version read replica. If you are using RDS, this could be as easy as clicking a button, and even for non-RDS MySQL databases, the process is fairly straightforward. Also, if you have any questions regarding how this could work with your environment, we are always more than welcome to answer your questions. Please feel free to either drop a message through the chat box on the right bottom of this page, or through email to We won’t spam you!
